bb41fe35dc Merge tag 'char-misc-6.9-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/char-misc
Pull char/misc and other driver subsystem updates from Greg KH:
 "Here is the big set of char/misc and a number of other driver
  subsystem updates for 6.9-rc1. Included in here are:

   - IIO driver updates, loads of new ones and evolution of existing ones

   - coresight driver updates

   - const cleanups for many driver subsystems

   - speakup driver additions

   - platform remove callback void cleanups

   - mei driver updates

   - mhi driver updates

   - cdx driver updates for MSI interrupt handling

   - nvmem driver updates

   - other smaller driver updates and cleanups, full details in the
    shortlog

  All of these have been in linux-next for a long time with no reported
  issue, other than a build warning for the speakup driver"

The build warning hits clang and is a gcc (and C23) extension, and is
fixed up in the merge.

1b926914bb iio: accel: adxl367: fix DEVID read after reset
regmap_read_poll_timeout() will not sleep before reading,
causing the first read to return -ENXIO on I2C, since the
chip does not respond to it while it is being reset.

The datasheet specifies that a soft reset operation has a
latency of 7.5ms.

Add a 15ms sleep between reset and reading the DEVID register,
and switch to a simple regmap_read() call.

0a33755c4b iio: Don't silently expect attribute types
The iio_triggered_buffer_setup_ext() and the
devm_iio_kfifo_buffer_setup_ext() were changed by
commit 15097c7a1a ("iio: buffer: wrap all buffer attributes into iio_dev_attr")
to silently expect that all attributes given in buffer_attrs array are
device-attributes. This expectation was not forced by the API - and some
drivers did register attributes created by IIO_CONST_ATTR().

When using IIO_CONST_ATTRs the added attribute "wrapping" does not copy
the pointer to stored string constant and when the sysfs file is read the
kernel will access to invalid location.

Change the function signatures to expect an array of iio_dev_attrs to
avoid similar errors in the future.

Merge conflict resolved whilst applying due to patch crossing with
two new drivers (kx022a accelerometer and ad4130 ADC).

0bd0bb1fc1 iio: accel: adxl367: do not update FIFO watermark on scan mode update
Currently, the driver updates the FIFO watermark inside both
update_scan_mode() and hwfifo_set_watermark(). Inside the IIO core,
hwfifo_set_watermark() is called immediately after update_scan_mode(),
making the first call to set_fifo_samples() redundant.

Remove the first call to set_fifo_samples(), and merge the
set_fifo_samples() function into the set_fifo_watermark()
function. Also, since fifo_set_size is always set inside of
update_scan_mode(), and it cannot be set to 0, remove the
zero check from set_fifo_samples().

f67c6c73cb iio: core: Simplify the registration of kfifo buffers
Among all the users of the kfifo buffers, no one uses the
INDIO_BUFFER_HARDWARE mode. So let's take this as a general rule and
simplify a little bit the internals - overall the documentation - by
eliminating unused specific cases. Use the INDIO_BUFFER_SOFTWARE mode by
default with kfifo buffers, which will basically mimic what all the "non
direct" modes do.

cbab791c5e iio: accel: add ADXL367 driver
The ADXL367 is an ultralow power, 3-axis MEMS accelerometer.

The ADXL367 does not alias input signals to achieve ultralow power
consumption, it samples the full bandwidth of the sensor at all
data rates. Measurement ranges of +-2g, +-4g, and +-8g are available,
with a resolution of 0.25mg/LSB on the +-2 g range.

In addition to its ultralow power consumption, the ADXL367
has many features to enable true system level power reduction.
It includes a deep multimode output FIFO, a built-in micropower
temperature sensor, and an internal ADC for synchronous conversion
of an additional analog input.
