fc3bbf34e6 drm/shmem-helper: Fix huge page mapping in fault handler
When running ./tools/testing/selftests/mm/split_huge_page_test multiple
times with /sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/shmem_enabled and
/sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/enabled set as always the following BUG
occurs:

[  232.754643] ---[ end Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception ]---

This happens when two concurrent page faults occur within the same PMD range.
One fault installs a PMD mapping through vmf_insert_pfn_pmd(), while the other
attempts to install a PTE mapping via vmf_insert_pfn(). The bug is
triggered because a pmd_trans_huge is not expected when walking the page
table inside vmf_insert_pfn.

Avoid this race by adding a huge_fault callback to drm_gem_shmem_vm_ops so that
PMD-sized mappings are handled through the appropriate huge page fault path.

bf4afc53b7 Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

    git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
        xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'

to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

Replace the bogus "GPL v2" with "GPL" as MODULE_LICNSE() string. The
value does not declare the module's exact license, but only lets the

See commit bf7fbeeae6 ("module: Cure the MODULE_LICENSE "GPL" vs.

211b9a39f2 drm/shmem-helper: Map huge pages in fault handler
Attempt a PMD sized PFN insertion into the VMA if the faulty address
of the fault handler is part of a huge page.

On builds with CONFIG_TRANSPARENT_HUGEPAGE enabled, if the mmap() user
address is PMD size aligned, if the GEM object is backed by shmem
buffers on mountpoints setting the 'huge=' option and if the shmem
backing store manages to allocate a huge folio, CPU mapping would then
benefit from significantly increased memcpy() performance. When these
conditions are met on a system with 2 MiB huge pages, an aligned copy
of 2 MiB would raise a single page fault instead of 4096.

v4:
- implement map_pages instead of huge_fault

v6:
- get rid of map_pages handler for now (keep it for another series
  along with arm64 contpte support)

v11:
- remove page fault validity check helper
- rename drm_gem_shmem_map_pmd() to drm_gem_shmem_try_map_pmd()
- add Boris R-b

  vmf->pgoff = vma->vm_pgoff + ((addr - vma->vm_start) >> PAGE_SHIFT)

We can slightly simplify the calculation using
  page_offset = vmf->pgoff - vma->vm_pgoff

4cbae3748f drm/gem-shmem: revert the 8-byte alignment constraint
Using drm_mode_size_dumb() to compute the size of dumb buffers introduced
an 8-byte alignment constraint on the pitch that wasn’t present before.
Let’s remove this constraint, which isn’t necessarily required and may
cause buffers to be allocated larger than needed.

c08c931060 drm/gem/shmem: Extract drm_gem_shmem_release() from drm_gem_shmem_free()
At the moment, the way that we currently free gem shmem objects is not
ideal for rust bindings. drm_gem_shmem_free() releases all of the
associated memory with a gem shmem object with kfree(), which means that
for us to correctly release a gem shmem object in rust we have to manually
drop all of the contents of our gem object structure in-place by hand
before finally calling drm_gem_shmem_free() to release the shmem resources
and the allocation for the gem object.

Since the only reason this is an issue is because of drm_gem_shmem_free()
calling kfree(), we can fix this by splitting drm_gem_shmem_free() out into
itself and drm_gem_shmem_release(), where drm_gem_shmem_release() releases
the various gem shmem resources without freeing the structure itself. With
this, we can safely re-acquire the KBox for the gem object's memory
allocation and let rust handle cleaning up all of the other struct members
automatically.

e3f4bdaf2c drm/gem/shmem: Extract drm_gem_shmem_init() from drm_gem_shmem_create()
With gem objects in rust, the most ideal way for us to be able to handle
gem shmem object creation is to be able to handle the memory allocation of
a gem object ourselves - and then have the DRM gem shmem helpers initialize
the object we've allocated afterwards. So, let's split out
drm_gem_shmem_init() from drm_gem_shmem_create() to allow for doing this.

6d496e9569 Revert "drm/gem-shmem: Use dma_buf from GEM object instance"
This reverts commit 1a148af060.

The dma_buf field in struct drm_gem_object is not stable over the
object instance's lifetime. The field becomes NULL when user space
releases the final GEM handle on the buffer object. This resulted
in a NULL-pointer deref.

Workarounds in commit 5307dce878 ("drm/gem: Acquire references on
GEM handles for framebuffers") and commit f6bfc9afc7 ("drm/framebuffer:
Acquire internal references on GEM handles") only solved the problem
partially. They especially don't work for buffer objects without a DRM
framebuffer associated.

Hence, this revert to going back to using .import_attach->dmabuf.

660cd44659 drm/shmem-helper: Import dmabuf without mapping its sg_table
[WHY]
1. Drivers using DRM_GEM_SHADOW_PLANE_HELPER_FUNCS and
   DRM_GEM_SHMEM_DRIVER_OPS (e.g., udl, ast) do not require
   sg_table import.
   They only need dma_buf_vmap() to access the shared buffer's
   kernel virtual address.

2. On certain Aspeed-based boards, a dma_mask of 0xffff_ffff may
   trigger SWIOTLB during dmabuf import. However, IO_TLB_SEGSIZE
   restricts the maximum DMA streaming mapping memory, resulting in
   errors like:

   ast 0000:07:00.0: swiotlb buffer is full (sz: 3145728 bytes), total 32768 (slots), used 0 (slots)

[HOW]
Provide a gem_prime_import implementation without sg_table mapping
to avoid issues (e.g., "swiotlb buffer is full"). Drivers that do not
require sg_table can adopt this.

39bc27bd68 drm/shmem-helper: Fix BUG_ON() on mmap(PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE)
Lack of check for copy-on-write (COW) mapping in drm_gem_shmem_mmap
allows users to call mmap with PROT_WRITE and MAP_PRIVATE flag
causing a kernel panic due to BUG_ON in vmf_insert_pfn_prot:
BUG_ON((vma->vm_flags & VM_PFNMAP) && is_cow_mapping(vma->vm_flags));

Return -EINVAL early if COW mapping is detected.

This bug affects all drm drivers using default shmem helpers.
It can be reproduced by this simple example:
void *ptr = mmap(0, size, PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE, fd, mmap_offset);
ptr[0] = 0;

ec144244a4 drm/gem-shmem: Acquire reservation lock in GEM pin/unpin callbacks
Export drm_gem_shmem_pin_locked() and acquire the reservation lock
directly in GEM pin callback. Same for unpin. Prepares for further
changes.

Dma-buf locking semantics require callers to hold the buffer's
reservation lock when invoking the pin and unpin callbacks. Prepare
gem-shmem accordingly by pushing locking out of the implementation.
A follow-up patch will fix locking for all GEM code at once.
