b27186abb3 Merge tag 'devicetree-for-4.20' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/robh/linux
Pull Devicetree updates from Rob Herring:
"A bit bigger than normal as I've been busy this cycle.

There's a few things with dependencies and a few things subsystem
maintainers didn't pick up, so I'm taking them thru my tree.

The fixes from Johan didn't get into linux-next, but they've been
waiting for some time now and they are what's left of what subsystem
  maintainers didn't pick up.

  Summary:

   - Sync dtc with upstream version v1.4.7-14-gc86da84d30e4

   - Work to get rid of direct accesses to struct device_node name and
type pointers in preparation for removing them. New helpers for
parsing DT cpu nodes and conversions to use the helpers. printk
conversions to %pOFn for printing DT node names. Most went thru
subystem trees, so this is the remainder.

   - Fixes to DT child node lookups to actually be restricted to child
     nodes instead of treewide.

   - Refactoring of dtb targets out of arch code. This makes the support
more uniform and enables building all dtbs on c6x, microblaze, and
     powerpc.

   - Various DT binding updates for Renesas r8a7744 SoC

   - Vendor prefixes for Facebook, OLPC

   - Restructuring of some ARM binding docs moving some peripheral
bindings out of board/SoC binding files

   - New "secure-chosen" binding for secure world settings on ARM

   - Dual licensing of 2 DT IRQ binding headers"

9a199422b0 dt-bindings: timer: renesas: cmt: document R-Car gen3 support
Document support for the R-Car gen3 CMT types 0/1 bindings -- they seem
to be the same CMT types 0/1 as in the R-Car gen2 SoCs.

Also document R8A779{7|8}0 bindings as these are the R-Car gen3 SoCs for
which the initial support was done.

e20824e944 dt-bindings: timer: renesas, cmt: Fix SoC-specific compatible values
While the new family-specific compatible values introduced by commit
6f54cc1adc ("devicetree: bindings: R-Car Gen2 CMT0 and CMT1
bindings") use the recommended order "<vendor>,<family>-<device>", the
new SoC-specific compatible values still use the old and deprecated
order "<vendor>,<device>-<soc>".

Switch the SoC-specific compatible values to the recommended order while
there are no upstream users of these compatible values yet.

46f6c04797 devicetree: bindings: Remove sh7372 CMT binding
Remove the sh7372 CMT compat string to reduce maintenance burden.

It should be fine to break DT compatibility because:
1) The sh7372 SoC support has been removed from upstream
2) The sh7372 CMT DT binding was never part of upstream DTS
3) The CMT driver never matches on the sh7372 binding

01fe3aaa3a clocksource: sh_cmt: Document SoC specific bindings
In general Renesas hardware is not documented to the extent
where the relationship between IP blocks on different SoCs can be assumed
although they may appear to operate the same way. Furthermore the
documentation typically does not specify a version for individual
IP blocks. For these reasons a convention of using the SoC name in place
of a version and providing SoC-specific compat strings has been adopted.

Although not universally liked this convention is used in the bindings for
a number of drivers for Renesas hardware. The purpose of this patch is to
update the Renesas R-Car Compare Match Timer (CMT) driver to follow this
convention.

* I plan to follow up with patches to use these new bindings in the
dtsi files for the affected SoCs.

v2
* Reorder compat entries so more-specific entries and their fallbacks
are grouped with the fallback entry coming last.
* Explicitly document fallback

v3
* Avoid circular dependency in documentation of fallback
  behaviour of renesas,cmt-48-gen2
* Use consistent case for SoC names in compat string descriptions
