Jonathan writes:

1st set of IIO new device support, features and cleanup for 5.17

Includes some fixes that were either late breaking, low priority or
complex enough to not be good to rush in late in the cycle.

Tree rebased today to fix up some trivial issues + pull in a fix that
was previously on the fixes-togreg branch. Vast majority have been
in linux-next for some time now.

New device support
* adi,ad7293
  - New driver and bindings for this Power Amplifier drain current
    controller. A complex device with various related monitoring functions.
* adi,ad75513R
  - New driver and bindings for this combined ADC and DAC device.
  - A few follow up fixes.
* adi,admv8818
  - New driver (and type) for this 2-18GHz filter device. Includes
    bindings and ABI documentation to allow clk_notifier based auto
    adjustment of the filters in appropriate applications.
* liteon,ltr501
  - Support for the ltr303. ID and chip specific info table.
* xilinx,ams
  - New generic firmware function fwnode_iomap() as used in this driver.
  - New driver and bindings for this ADC and on-chip sensors as found
    in various Xilinx devices.

Core
* Introduced IIO_VAL_INT_64 which uses val and val2 in IIO callbacks to
  form a 64 bit integer when higher precision needed.
* Allow IIO_ENUM_AVAILABLE to be used with different shared values.
* Fix a long term issue with scheduling whilst atomic when iio_trig_poll()
  is called but no trigger consumers are actually enabled and hence the
  trigger may be reenabled from the interrupt handler. Seen in the wild
  on the tsc2046.
* Mark iio_device_type const.
* buffer: Use a separate index variable to simplify code.
* buffer-dma: Clear out unused struct iio_buffer_block
* buffer-dmaengine: Switch to cheaper round_down() as power of 2 values.

Tests/tools
* format_value
  - Check against NULL returns from allocations in tests.
  - Add IIO_VAL_INT_64 test case.
* event_monitor
  - Flush the output after event to given more consistent latency
    when tool output piped to other programs.

Driver Features
* axp20x
  - Add support for NTC thermistor channel and document TS pin binding.
* arm,scmi
  - Add reading of raw channel values (using IIO_VAL_INT_64)
* liteon,ltr501
  - Add proximity-near-level support and dt-binding.

Tree wide cleanup
* Remove no-op trigger ops from multiple drivers.
* Stop using dev_get_drvdata() on the iio_dev->dev in various drivers
  and then stop assigning it to allow this to be used for other purposes.
  We can always get to the indio_dev using dev_to_iio_dev() which is
  a container_of() based approach. Also cleanup up some related unnecessary
  convoluted cases.
  - atmel,at91-sam5d2
  - nxp,imx7d
  - meas,ms5611
  - st,st_sensors
* Where available (or easy to introduce) use the scan_type.* values
  in place of a second copy for read_raw and similar paths.
  - adi,ad7266
  - bosch,bma220
  - fsl,mac3110
  - fsl,mma7455
  - fsl,mpl3115
  - kionix,kcjk-1013
  - sensortek,stk8ba50
  - sensortek,stk8312
  - ti,adc12138
  - ti,ads1015
  - vti,sca3000
  - xilinx,xadc-core
* Switch drives over to generic firmware properties including appropriate
  header changes to avoid including of.h
  - Various DACs had false CONFIG_OF dependencies.
  - dpot-dac
  - envelope-detector
  - adi,ad5755
  - adi,ad5758
  - capella,cm3605
  - maxim,max9611
  - microchip,mcp41010
  - microchip,mcp3911
  - ti,adc12138
* Trivial clang warning fixes for W=1 warnings.

Driver specific cleanup and minor fixes
* adi,ad7606
  - Comment fixes.
* ams,ad3935
  - Drop pointless cast to the same type.
* atmel,at91-sama5d2
  - Fix wrong cast of iio_dev->dev to platform_device that happened to
    be harmless.
* fsl,mma7660
  - Stop i2c remove() function returning an error code. Part of a rework
    to eventually stop returning anything from these.
* fsl,mma8452
  - Use correct type for local irqreturn_t.
* nxp,imx8mq
  - Maintainer email address update.
* nxp,lpc18xx_adc
  - Ensure clk_prepare_enable() called before clk_get_rate().
  - Switch of.h for mod_devicetable.h to reflect no of specific functions,
    just the id table.
* renesas,rzg2l
  - Drop a dev_err() that just duplicates error printed in platform_get_irq()
* sgx,vz89x
  - Drop pointless cast.
* st,lsm6dsx
  - Make it possible to disable the sensorhub from DT to avoid a corner
    case where the address of a slave device many be accidentally modified.
* st,stm32-adc
  - Stop leaking an of_node in an error path.
* st,stmp2
   - Avoid wrong sized type for bit field which could result in
     over-reading (harmless). Precursor to enabling -Warray-bounds.
* ti,adc081c
  - Put back some ACPI support for non standards compliant ADC081C
    ID because it is known to be in the wild on some Aaeon boards.
* ti,ads8688
  - Cleanup redundant local ret variable assignment.
* ti,ina2xx-adc
  - Use helper macro kthread_run() to replace some boilerplate.
  - Avoid double reference counting.
  - Drop pointless cast.
* xilinx,xadc
  - Make the IRQ optional as not always wired to the host system.

  Loads of IIO driver updates and additions in here, the shortlog has

  For the staging side, we moved a few drivers out of staging, and
  deleted the kpc2000 drivers as the original developer asked us to
  because no one was working on them anymore.

  Also in here are loads of coding style cleanups due to different
  intern projects focusing on the staging tree to try to get experience

972d6a7dce dt-bindings: Drop redundant minItems/maxItems
If a property has an 'items' list, then a 'minItems' or 'maxItems' with the
same size as the list is redundant and can be dropped. Note that is DT
schema specific behavior and not standard json-schema behavior. The tooling
will fixup the final schema adding any unspecified minItems/maxItems.

This condition is partially checked with the meta-schema already, but
only if both 'minItems' and 'maxItems' are equal to the 'items' length.
An improved meta-schema is pending.

6771fb0b94 Merge tag 'iio-for-5.14a' of https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jic23/iio into staging-next
Jonathan writes:

1st set of new IIO/counter device support, features and cleanup for 5.14

There are a couple of large cleanup sets in here alongside a number of new
drivers.

Note an immutable branch merged to add a stub for i2c_verify_client()
as needed to avoid a build issue in the fxls8962af driver as a result of a
workaround for a device errata that only applies when i2c interface is used.

Counters
========

New device support
* intel,quadrature encoder peripheral found on Elkhart Lake platforms.
  - New driver.

IIO
===

New device support
* amstaos,tsl2591 ambient light sensor.
  - New driver + bindings
  - Follow up fix to ensure some local variables are suitable for error
    handling.
* fsl,fxls8962af + fsl,fxls8964af accelerometers
  - New driver + bindings
  - Includes an errata work around that cause a build bot failure fixed
    by adding a stub to i2c.
* kionix,kxcjk-1013
  - Add support for KX023-1025 device. Mostly a different register map
    that needed to be supported.
* murata,sca3300 accelerometer
  - New driver + bindings
* st,lsm9ds0 IMU
  - Rework of st,sensors driver to cleanly support this new glue driver
    that enables the two parts of the LSM9DS0.
* ti,tsc2046 touchscreen controller ADC.
  - New driver. Intent here is to use this with existing IIO consumer
    drivers such as resistive-adc-touch.
  - Follow up fix to avoid an issue with unsigned subtraction in error
    check.
* ti,tmp117 digital temperature sensor
  - New driver + bindings

Features
* adi,ad5755
  - Add missing dt-binding doc
* adi,ad7298
  - Add ACPI ID used on Intel Galileo Gen 1 boards.
  - Add missing dt-binding doc
* adi,ad7476
  - Add missing dt-binding doc
* adi,ad7746
  - Add missing dt-binding doc for this driver that will hopefully move out
    of staging shortly. Update staging driver to use the binding instead of
    platform data.
* adi,adis16201 + adis16209
  - Add missing dt-binding doc
* adi,adis16480
  - Support burst mode for adis16495 and adis16497 parts.
* bosch,bma220
  - Add missing dt-binding doc
* fsl,mma7455
  - Add missing dt-binding doc
* iio-rescale
  - Support handling of processed channels from provider. Some ADCs
    require (typically non linear) calibration functions to be applied,
    and so provide only IIO_CHAN_INFO_PROCESSED read back. They can be
    used as providers to the iio-rescale driver which needs to handle them
    somewhat differently from IIO_CHAN_INFO_RAW
* sensiron,sps30
  - Support the serial interface. Note this required significant
    refactoring of existing driver.
* st,st-sensors
  - Add mount matrix support for normal dt-binding whilst continuing to
    support the odd ACPI approach for accelerometers.
* ti,dac082s085 + similar
  - Add missing dt-binding doc
* trivial-devices - add entries for
  - memsic,mx4005, memsic,mx6255 and memsic,mxc6655
  - sensortek,stk8312 and sensortek,stk8ba50

Cleanup / minor fixes
* core
  - Use devm_add_action_or_reset() to replace boilerplate in several
    driver and core IIO devm_* functions.
  - Fix an error path issue introduced by above, that could return an
    error pointer rather than the expected null from dev_iio_device_alloc()
  - Move more IIO internals related fields from struct iio_dev to
    struct iio_dev_opaque.
  - Drop unused final update of in_loc in demux setup.
* Docs
  - Move some docs from driver specific to core dos to avoid replication
    of names which the documentation builder does not allow.
    Note this means adding a few device specific notes to the general docs
    to cover the more unusual uses of the ABI.
  - ABI: Move old buffer/* and scan_elements/* docs to obsolete as now we
    have the bufferX/* variant. Not we are not getting rid of these
    interfaces, just encouraging new code to use the new interface.
* IIO wide:
  - Tidy up new cases of dev.parent etc being set in drivers as the core
    now does it.
  - Fix more cases of possible miss-aligned buffers when passed to
    iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp(). Note we only have one known
    instance of anyone seeing this bug actually happening, so this has been
    a low priority cleanup effort for several cycles.
  - sysfs_emit() used in more drivers.
  - Runtime pm tidy up and use of pm_runtime_resume_and_get()
  - Buffer alignment fixes as iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp requires
    that the timestamp when inserted by naturally aligned + consumers can
    assume that all fields are naturally aligned. Part of a long running
    effort, with at least 2 more series to come tackling additional
    variants.
  - Stop specifying "mount-matrix" property name in every lookup of the
    mount matrix from firmware by hard coding it in the core.
* adi,ad7476
  - Handle the variety of different regulators used by the parts supported
    by this driver (came up in dt-binding review)
* adi,ad7746
  - Trivial drop of if (ret) return ret; return 0; pattern
  - Tidy up comments
  - Pull capdac setup out to own function.
* adi,ad7766
  - Trivial drop of if (ret) return ret; return 0; pattern
* adi,adis
  - Avoid returning error codes in interrupt handlers.
  - Handle a failure in spi_write in the trigger handler.
  - Rework to add updating of device page after changing it.
  - Don't push data to IIO buffers when read failed.
  - Add configuration of burst max speed to core avoid handling this in
    each driver.
  - Use the adis_dev_lock() helper in adis16260 and adis16136 drivers.
  - Excessive includes cleanup via include-what-you-use static checker
    after zero day highlighted that these needed updating.
* afe
  - Amend binding to add #io-channel-cells, thus allowing this IIO
    consumer to also be an IIO provider.
* aosong,am2315
  - Drop ACPI id. Unlikely this one is in the wild and it isn't valid
    ACPI naming.
* bosch,bma180
  - Adding missing bandwidth settings (500, 1000 Hz)
* bosch,bme680
  - Drop ACPI id. Unlikely this one is in the wild and it isn't valid
    ACPI naming.
* ep93xx_adc,
  - Drop a redundant error print.
* maxim,max118
  - Convert remainder of probe() to devm_ managed functions.
  - Avoid some repeated jumping back and forth between iio_dev and
    spi structures.
* maxim,max11100
  - Use get_unaligned_be16() instead of open coding.
  - Convert remainder of probe() to devm_ managed functions.
* samsung,exynos_adc
  - Unused error value dropped.
* sensiron,sgp30
  - Drop use of %hx in favor of %x and letting the normal type conversion
    work.
* sensortek,stk8312
  - Add lowercase device id and note uppercase version deprecated.
  - Drop ACPI id. Unlikely this one is in the wild and it isn't valid
    ACPI naming.
* sprx,sc72xx_adc
  - add MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE
* st,lsm6dsx
  - Fix docs of valid ODRs
* st,sensors
  - dt-binding rework. Two efforts on this crossed in a previous cycle
    so this update cherry picks the best of the two yaml conversions.
  - Don't copy the channel spec array as now ext_info is no longer modified.
* st,stm32-adc
  - tidy up some docs that were marked as kernel-doc but aren't.
* ti,adc081c, ti,adc0832, ti,adc108s102 and ti,adc161s626
  - Convert remainder of probe() functions to devm_ managed functions
    to simplify error handing and remove paths.

Pull staging/IIO driver updates from Greg KH:
 "Here is the big set of staging and IIO driver updates for 5.13-rc1.

  Lots of little churn in here, and some larger churn as well. Major
  things are:

   - removal of wimax drivers, no one has this hardware anymore for this
     failed "experiment".

   - removal of the Google gasket driver, turns out no one wanted to
     maintain it or cares about it anymore, so they asked for it to be
     removed.

   - comedi finally moves out of the staging directory into drivers/comedi

     This is one of the oldest kernel subsystems around, being created
     in the 2.0 kernel days, and was one of the first things added to
     drivers/staging/ when that was created over 15 years ago.

     It should have been moved out of staging a long time ago, it's well
     maintained and used by loads of different devices in the real world
     every day. Nice to see this finally happen.

   - so many tiny coding style cleanups it's not funny.

     Perfect storm of at least 2 different intern project application
     deadlines combined to provide a huge number of new contributions in
     this area from people learning how to do kernel development. Great
     job to everyone involved here.

  There's also the normal updates for IIO drivers with new IIO drivers
  and updates all over that subsystem.

  All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
  issues"

28ffe8bf90 dt-bindings: Clean-up undocumented compatible strings
Adding checks for undocumented compatible strings reveals a bunch of
warnings in the DT binding examples. Fix the cases which are typos, just
a mismatch between the schema and the example, or aren't documented at all.
In a couple of cases, fixing the compatible revealed some schema errors
which are fixed.

There's a bunch of others remaining after this which have bindings, but
those aren't converted to schema yet.

0499220d6d dt-bindings: Add missing array size constraints
DT properties which can have multiple entries need to specify what the
entries are and define how many entries there can be. In the case of
only a single entry, just 'maxItems: 1' is sufficient.

Add the missing entry constraints. These were found with a modified
meta-schema. Unfortunately, there are a few cases where the size
constraints are not defined such as common bindings, so the meta-schema
can't be part of the normal checks.

  Nothing really exciting, just the constant grind of kernel development :)

  All have been in linux-next for a while with no reported issues"

f1005415a8 dt-bindings:iio:adc:remove triggers
The trigger child nodes are not necessary anymore as they are defined
directly by the driver, depending on the compatible string.

7282091581 dt-bindings:iio:adc:atmel, sama9260-adc: conversion to yaml from at91_adc.txt
There are a few things we would do differently in an ADC binding if we
were starting from scratch but we are stuck with what we have (which
made sense back when this was written!)

We may be able to tighten up some elements of this binding in the future
by careful checking of what values properties can actually take.

Note the unusual sign off chain is representative of the path this patch
took.

Jonathan wrote the patch, which was then included in a series by
Alexandre and ultimately applied by Jonathan.

d1ad104132 dt-bindings:iio:adc:remove atmel, adc-res and atmel, adc-res-names
Remove atmel,adc-res and atmel,adc-res-names as they are not necessary and
are handled by the driver. Also add sama5d3 to the list of possible chips.

bd690dfab1 dt-bindings:iio:adc:maxim,max1027: Pull out to separate binding doc.
The afe/voltage-divider.yaml example uses this device with 2 properties
not provided by trivial-devices.yaml (spi-max-frequency and #io-channel-cells)

Solve that by creating a more specific binding doc.
