bf4afc53b7 Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

    git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
        xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'

to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

07e5e811f8 powercap: Replace sprintf() with sysfs_emit() in sysfs show functions
Replace all sprintf() calls with sysfs_emit() in sysfs show functions.

sysfs_emit() is preferred over sprintf() for formatting sysfs output
as it provides better bounds checking and prevents potential buffer
overflows.

Also, replace sprintf() with sysfs_emit() in show_constraint_name()
and simplify the code by removing the redundant strlen() call since
sysfs_emit() returns the length.

efc4c35b74 powercap: fix sscanf() error return value handling
Fix inconsistent error handling for sscanf() return value check.

Implicit boolean conversion is used instead of explicit return
value checks. The code checks if (!sscanf(...)) which is incorrect
because:
 1. sscanf returns the number of successfully parsed items
 2. On success, it returns 1 (one item passed)
 3. On failure, it returns 0 or EOF
 4. The check 'if (!sscanf(...))' is wrong because it treats
    success (1) as failure

All occurrences of sscanf() now uses explicit return value check.
With this behavior it returns '-EINVAL' when parsing fails (returns
0 or EOF), and continues when parsing succeeds (returns 1).

7bda1910c4 powercap: fix race condition in register_control_type()
The device becomes visible to userspace via device_register()
even before it fully initialized by idr_init(). If userspace
or another thread tries to register a zone immediately after
device_register(), the control_type_valid() will fail because
the control_type is not yet in the list. The IDR is not yet
initialized, so this race condition causes zone registration
failure.

Move idr_init() and list addition before device_register()
fix the race condition.

93c66fbc28 powercap: call put_device() on an error path in powercap_register_control_type()
powercap_register_control_type() calls device_register(), but does not
release the refcount of the device when it fails.

Call put_device() before returning an error to balance the refcount.

Since the kfree(control_type) will be done by powercap_release(), remove
the lines in powercap_register_control_type() before returning the error.

This bug was found by an experimental verifier that I am developing.

d25d01b4e5 powercap: remove MODULE_LICENSE in non-modules
Since commit 8b41fc4454 ("kbuild: create modules.builtin without
Makefile.modbuiltin or tristate.conf"), MODULE_LICENSE declarations
are used to identify modules. As a consequence, uses of the macro
in non-modules will cause modprobe to misidentify their containing
object file as a module when it is not (false positives), and modprobe
might succeed rather than failing with a suitable error message.

So remove it in the files in this commit, none of which can be built as
modules.

1b6599f741 powercap: fix possible name leak in powercap_register_zone()
In the error path after calling dev_set_name(), the device
name is leaked. To fix this, calling dev_set_name() before
device_register(), and call put_device() if it returns error.

All the resources is released in powercap_release(), so it
can return from powercap_register_zone() directly.

7ac70300f3 powercap: Use kstrtobool() instead of strtobool()
strtobool() is the same as kstrtobool().
However, the latter is more used within the kernel.

In order to remove strtobool() and slightly simplify kstrtox.h, switch to
the other function name.

While at it, include the corresponding header file (<linux/kstrtox.h>)

b4ba76fb1c powercap: Adjust printing the constraint name with new line
The constrain name has limit of size 30, which sometimes might be hit.
When this happens the new line might get lost. Prevent this and set the
max limit for name string length equal 29. This would result is proper
string clamping (when needed) and storing '\n' at index 29 and '\0' at 30,
so similarly as desired originally.

949dd0104c powercap: restrict energy meter to root access
Remove non-privileged user access to power data contained in
/sys/class/powercap/intel-rapl*/*/energy_uj

Non-privileged users currently have read access to power data and can
use this data to form a security attack. Some privileged
drivers/applications need read access to this data, but don't expose it
to non-privileged users.

For example, thermald uses this data to ensure that power management
works correctly. Thus removing non-privileged access is preferred over
completely disabling this power reporting capability with
CONFIG_INTEL_RAPL=n.

f76cb066ed powercap: Invoke powercap_init() and rapl_init() earlier
The MMIO RAPL interface driver depends on both powercap subsystem and
the intel_rapl_common code.

But when all of them are built-in, the MMIO RAPL interface driver can
be loaded before the other two and this breaks the system during boot.

Fix this by adjusting the init order of the powercap subsystem and the
intel_rapl_common code, so that it can be initialized first.

6396bb2215 treewide: kzalloc() -> kcalloc()
The kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kcalloc(). This
patch replaces cases of:

        kzalloc(a * b, gfp)

with:
        kcalloc(a * b, gfp)

as well as handling cases of:

        kzalloc(a * b * c, gfp)

with:

        kzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp)

as it's slightly less ugly than:

        kzalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp)

This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like:

        kzalloc(4 * 1024, gfp)

though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion.

Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were
dropped, since they're redundant.

216c4e9db4 PowerCap: Fix an error code in powercap_register_zone()
In the current code we accidentally return the successful result from
idr_alloc() instead of a negative error pointer.  The caller is looking
for an error pointer and so it treats the returned value as a valid
pointer.

This one might be a bit serious because if it lets people get around the
kernel's protection for remapping NULL.  I'm not sure.

The powercap_zone_ops and powercap_zone_constraint_ops structures are never
modified, so declare them as const.

Most of the actual changes adjust indentation to accomodate the const
keyword.

Done with the help of Coccinelle.

95677a9a38 PowerCap: Fix mode for energy counter
As per the documentation of powercap sysfs, energy_uj field is read only,
if it can't be reset. Currently it always allows write but will fail,
if there is no reset callback.
Changing mode field, to read only if there is no reset callback.

9e3410b764 PowerCap: Convert class code to use dev_groups
The newly added power capping framework uses the obsolete .dev_attrs
field of struct class. However this field will be removed in 3.13, so
convert the code to use the .dev_groups field instead.

75d2364ea0 PowerCap: Add class driver
The power capping framework providing a consistent interface between the
kernel and user space that allows power capping drivers to expose their
settings to user space in a uniform way.
The overall design of the framework is described in the documentation
added by the previous patch in this series.
