**Proxmox Backup Server (PBS):**
PBS uses `.pxarexclude` files (similar to `.gitignore`) to exclude paths from backups. Create or edit a `.pxarexclude` file in your Tunarr data directory:

echo "data.ms/" >> /path/to/tunarr/.tunarr/.pxarexclude
```
PBS will skip the `data.ms` directory during all future backup jobs that include that path. No PBS job reconfiguration is required — the exclusion is applied automatically when PBS encounters the `.pxarexclude` file.
!!! tip
The Meilisearch index can be rebuilt automatically by Tunarr, so excluding `data.ms` from backups is generally safe, so long as the `ms-snapshots` directory is preserved. After restoring a backup without this file, Tunarr will recreate the search index on startup.
